- Application of Probabilistic Methods to Medical Images
The goals of this miniproject are to demonstrate that the probabilistic methods developed for molecular structure analysis, and described elsewhere. We have applied these methods to two problems: the segmentation of CT scans (work with Brinkley), and the planning of radiosurgery dosing (work with Tombropoulos).
- Automatic Encoding of Natural Text into SNOMED
The goals of this miniproject are to develop methods for automatically translating natural language, dictated text into relevant SNOMED codes. We have developed and evaluated a prototype method, based on linear least squares for mapping clinical narrative concerning congestive heart failure (work with Oliver).
- The Use of Email in Primary Care
The goals of this miniproject are to investigate the current status of, and potential for the use of electronic mail in delivering primary care. We have reported an initial study looking at the attitudes and usage patterns of patients in a Silicon Valley clinic towards email (work with Fridsma).
